Free flights offered at Skypark

May 9, 2011 - 02:56 PM

The world of flight offers fun, freedom and experiences unlike anything else in the world.

Any Sonoman interested is invited to participate in an International Learn To Fly Day event, hosted by the local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association, at Sonoma Skypark on Saturday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (weather permitting).

During the EAA Chapter 1268 International Learn To Fly Day event, which is free of charge, guests will discover more about how learning to fly is not as time-consuming or expensive as one might think. Pilots, flight instructors and aircraft owners will be available to discuss the possibilities available in aviation.

This event is designed for those 18 and older, who will be awarded a spot on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Those ages 8 to 18 can get a free flight during the monthly Young Eagles program at the Skypark, the next of which takes place Sunday, June 12, from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

The Sonoma Skypark is located at 21870 Eighth St. E. Details, call 939-8333.
