Frances Begley
Frances Begley passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by her family, on April 1, 2011. She was 83.
Fran was born Dec. 26, 1927, and was raised in Berkeley. She then moved to Glen Ellen in 1960 where she raised her three children. She worked as a waitress for many years at Bunny’s Country Kitchen in Kenwood, the London Lodge in Glen Ellen and the El Dorado Hotel in Sonoma. She then worked in nutrition services at the Sonoma Developmental Center, retired at age 65, and became a foster grandparent at SDC for several years following.
Fran belonged to the Golden Age, enjoyed bingo, gambling, going on trips to Washington to visit her daughter, granddaughters and great grandsons, and enjoyed playing the Wii with her great grandson.
Fran’s outgoing personality attracted many lasting friendships. You could always count on her to liven up the party with her good sense of humor. There was never a dull moment if Fran was around. She always made sure everyone was well taken care of and having a good time. She was a caring mother and a doting grandmother.
Fran is survived by her three loving children, Karen Guffin, and her husband, Paul, from Spokane, Wash.; Danny Suggett, from Sonoma; and Janet Reed, from Sonoma. She is also survived by her three granddaughters, Shannie Lund and her husband, Gary, from Spokane, Wash.; Shannon Phillips and her husband, Andrew, from Spokane, Wash.; and Tiffany Carranza and her husband, Andres, from Sonoma. In addition, her four great grandsons, Derrick Lund, Donovan and Cameron Phillips and Anthony Carranza, and also, Debbie Webster from Sonoma, who was like a daughter to Fran.
