Valley of the Moon Certified Farmers Market opens with a huge celebration, 50 vendors, 10 artisans and loads of fun in front of Sonoma City Hall at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 3. Consider purchasing your picnic there instead of bringing it in to party in Sonoma Plaza.

Jean’s Pajama Party, one of Sonoma’s most fun and most purposeful fundraisers, will be Wednesday, May 4, at El Dorado Kitchen (EDK), El Dorado Hotel’s restaurant. The event starts with a dessert buffet and progresses healthward, to say nothing of cocktails and gorgeous men serving most needs.

The evening’s Fund-A-Need Guest of Honor will be Sonoma graphic artist and dancing queen Ginnie Nichols, herself living with chemotherapy while awaiting a transplant.

$85. 6 p.m. Reservations at 815-9187.
