Five to receive 'Amistad Awards' on Oct. 8
Five persons will be honored during the second annual "Amistad (Friendship) Awards" at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, in the historic Sonoma Barracks Courtyard.
Those honored include Bret Sackett, Sonoma's police chief; Jennifer Hainstock, Supervisor Valerie Brown's district director; Tony Garcia, a business owner and community contributor; Zuli Baron, a community organizer with St. Joseph Health System; and Gabriel Sánchez-Navarro, associate director of Nuestra Voz and co-editor of Comunidades bilingual magazine.
Consul General of Mexico Carlos Félix Corona and Sonoma Mayor Laurie Gallian will jointly present the honors for outstanding service to the Hispanic community of Sonoma Valley.
The Hispanic heritage-themed dinner features authentic cuisine by Las Adelitas Creativas and Tianguis Cultural, as well as pouring by Wine Country Connect (wine.woot). There are only 39 tickets left for this intimate evening at $75 a person, and are available at Nuestra Voz Center, 200 Fuente Lane, Springs Village; and Sonoma Materials, 21040 Broadway, Sonoma.
The Amistad (Friendship) Awards kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month, and is presented by Nuestra Voz of Sonoma with major sponsors Comcast and Sonoma Materials.
