Farm Bureau to honor Mulas family
The Mulas family will be honored as "Farm Family of the Year" on Wednesday, July 13, at Sonoma County Farm Bureau's Love of the Land celebration.
The event will celebrate the many contributions of the Mulas family as respected ranchers, agricultural leaders and pillars of the community, evidenced by more than a half-century of dedication to the Schell-Vista Volunteer Fire Department. Three generations of the Mulas family work together to produce milk and wine grapes on 1,000 acres of family land in the Schellville area.
"The Mulas family epitomizes the spirit and determination of family farmers who are the backbone of the agriculture industry in Sonoma County," said Joe Pozzi, a west Sonoma County livestock rancher and president of Sonoma County Farm Bureau.
The Love of the Land event starts at 5 p.m. at Richard and Saralee Kunde's private vineyard estate located at 3575 Slusser Road in Windsor. There will be authentic Sonoma County wine and food available from 5 to 7 p.m. A barbecue dinner featuring an array of Sonoma County grown products will be served at 7 p.m. Dinner will be followed by the awards presentation and a live auction.
The event is open to anyone who would like to join in honoring the Mulas family and other agriculture award winners.
Tickets for the Love of the Land wine and food reception and dinner are $65. Tables of eight are available. Reservations are due by July 6 and can be made by calling the Farm Bureau at 544-5575.
