Being involved in a home fire is an experience that will stay with you for a lifetime. I lost a home that was rented at the time and the community banded together and found the tenants a new rent free home, belongings, clothes, financial support and were extemporary. The problem with the picture is that the renters had caused the fire by having a lit cigarette on the sofa. So s a homeowner I lost the home, all the appliances and furnishings that were included, had to pay for demolishing and clearing, clean up of the mess, the list goes on and on. the insurance would not pay as they deemed the tenants liable to have their own insurance to do so.
Now when I hear of a fire happening my SECOND thought is.... poor homeowner....the silent victim.
