Empire athlete, scholar honors garnered by four Dragon seniors

 

Last Wednesday at the Friedman Center in Santa Rosa, four Sonoma Valley High School student-athletes were honored at The Press Democrat’s 17th annual Redwood Empire Athletes/Scholar Athletes of the Year banquet.

Receiving the athlete of the year awards for the Lady Dragons was senior soccer and basketball star Ellie Ceja, while, for the Sonoma boys, senior three-sport standout (football, basketball and baseball) Steven McGunagle was the athlete of the year.

Garnering the scholar-athlete award for the Sonoma girls was senior Emma McGee (cross country and track and field), while, for the Dragon boys, senior Danny Maggioncalda (cross country and track and field) earned the scholar-athlete recognition.
