Eight Dragons wrestle challenging Reno Worlds, Lacy medals

Getting another chance to compete after long 2010-11 regular- and post-seasons, eight Sonoma Valley High School varsity wrestlers recently traveled over the snowy Sierra Nevada range for the high-profiled national event called the Reno Worlds, which included youth grapplers from 30 states.
The wrestling Dragons, under the direction of Sonoma head wrestling coach Kyle Baird, made a solid showing by combining for 13 wins, with sophomore Aidan Lacy posting a 3-3 record and capturing the sixth-place medal in the 200-pound weight-class division.
Sonoma was also paced at the Reno Worlds by senior Riley Hyman’s 2-2 record at 152 pounds; sophomore Jonathan Amandoli’s 2-2 at 175; sophomore Giordi Serafini’s 2-2 at 115; sophomore Sam Denning’s 2-2 at 125; sophomore Wyatt Casella’s 1-2 at 175; freshman Max Schimm’s 1-2 at 135; and frosh Harris Meglen’s 0-2 at 108.
