Sheriff Rimshot and her Deputahs from Dunbar's 2011 melodrama, "Wrongful Doings at Woeful Ranch," showing at Dunbar School at 6 p.m. on May 27, 28 and 29.

Dunbar School announces the staging of its 19th annual melodrama production, "Wrongful Doings at Woeful Ranch" or "I Hat Dat Wascal!"

The show runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend (May 27, 28 and 29) at 6 p.m. at Dunbar's outdoor Haver stage.

The show is a melodramatic comedy set in the old West, and is suitable for all ages. Being a true melodrama, the 42 fifth-grade actors encourage the audience get involved and "boo" the villain, "cheer" the hero, and "sigh" over the heroines.

A full-length production with Western costumes, sets and sound effects, the show is a favorite rite of passage for Dunbar's fifth graders, skillfully directed by Sonoma Treasure Artist Kate Kennedy. This year's show is one of four melodramas that Squire Fridell wrote or adapted when his daughter Lexy, who is now a Broadway actress, was at Dunbar.

Doors open each night at 5 p.m. and all seating is outdoors. (Show runs rain or shine and is staged indoors if it rains.) Guests are welcome to use folding chairs or to sit on blankets. Picnics are encouraged and concessions will be available for purchase.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under, with a "family pack" (two adults and two children) available for $25. Tickets can be purchased at the door or held at will call.

All proceeds go to support the Dunbar Melodrama Project.

There are also many levels of advertising and sponsorship opportunities available. Call Kate at 888-9322 to inquire about sponsorship or tickets.

Dunbar School is located at 11700 Dunbar Road in Glen Ellen.
