Dragon tennis boys eclipse El Mo, while golfers edged by Casa
Getting back on the winning track in Sonoma County League play, the Sonoma Valley High School tennis boys could only split their singles matches, but they swept doubles en route to defeating El Molino 5-2 last Thursday at the high school courts.
Leading the Dragons were sophomore Sean Hall’s 6-3, 6-0 triumph over Gregonis at No. 1 singles; sophomore Stephen Montano’s 6-3, 6-0 victory over Green at No. 2 singles; junior Travis McRice’s and sophomore Aidan Lacy’s 6-2, 6-2 win over Bauer and Lindquist at No. 1 doubles; senior Johnny Medina’s and sophomore Liam Casey’s 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 topping of Flood and Toruno at No. 2 doubles; and junior Ron Kohut’s and freshman Sachin Naidoo’s win by default at No. 3 doubles.
Sustaining Sonoma’s losses were sophomore Griffin Hill’s 4-6, 3-6 to Bauer at No. 3 singles; and senior David Cole’s 3-6, 5-7 to Chesnut-Pinto at No. 4 singles.
The Dragon netters hosted Analy in the home finale yesterday – results not available at presstime – and will end their SCL regular season today at Petaluma.

Sonoma’s boy golfers traveled to the Rooster Run Golf Course in Petaluma last Thursday and were upended by SCL foe Casa Grande 207-234.
The Dragons – who host league rival Petaluma at 3:30 p.m. today at the Sonoma Golf Club – were paced by senior A.J. Vitorelo’s nine-hole round of 40, sophomore Brian Hurley’s 44, junior RAB Byrd’s 49, freshman Dario Minatta’s 50, and junior Tyler Johnson’s 51.
