Donald Lee Taylor
Donald Taylor
On Dec. 4, 2010, at the age of 78, Donald Lee Taylor went to meet his loving and devoted wife of 50-plus years, Bernice Mildred Taylor, who passed away Oct. 30, 2009.
They leave behind 11 children, 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. They raised their children to study hard to earn an education and work hard to make a living in this world.
Catholicism was an integral part of everyday living and after retiring from the SFPD as a captain, Don devoted himself to the church, residing in the parish community of St. Francis Solano Church in Sonoma. Although Bernice suffered a number of years through her failing health, she continued to take care of their house, the cooking, cleaning, shopping, bookkeeping and myriad of other duties, along with taking care of her youngest son. She always had a smile ready for everyone, no matter what. Don did everything possible to provide for their every comfort.
After Bernice passed, Don suffered from a broken heart. She was his lifeline and now they are together again. The family will be holding a memorial Mass on Saturday, Jan. 8, at their church in Sonoma at 10 a.m., followed by a celebration of life in the parish hall. All are welcome to attend. Donations may be made to Fr. Mike and/or the church in their honor.
