DUI suspect leaves hit-and-run debris trail
A 30-year-old Sonoma man was arrested Monday after leaving the scenes of a string of accidents but not before numerous California Highway Patrol officers and Sonoma County Sheriff's deputies surrounded a mobile home at Seven Flags of Sonoma after reports that the man had a gun.
According to Officer Jaret Paulson with the CHP's Napa office, the incident started when the man, who was northbound on Arnold Drive at about 6:50 p.m., rear-ended another northbound motorist.
The suspect then turned onto Watmaugh Road and pulled into Seven Flags Mobile Home Park where, while driving on Hermosa Parkway, he hit a tree.
The suspect then hit a stop sign on Seven Flags Circle and leaped from his 1998 Chevy Suburban, fleeing on foot to a residence on English Flag Way.
As the suspect ran off, witnesses thought he was brandishing a pistol and pointed deputies to a mobile home where the man apparently took refuge.
The deputies and CHP set up a perimeter and called for assistance from the CHP helicopter in Napa.
The suspect was eventually arrested.
A dog was sent into the residence to see if there had been a second person and/or a gun, but neither was found.
The 30-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with three counts of misdemeanor hit-and-run, misdemeanor driving under the influence and misdemeanor driving while suspended.
