Crush offers insider access to wineries

 

Heart of Sonoma Valley Association offers up the 2011 Sonoma Valley Crush Sept. 14 to 18, which gives an insiders look at the hectic harvest season. Sixteen wineries throughout the Heart of Sonoma Valley will be participating in this hands-on harvest experience.

Guests will not only get a behind-the-scenes look at what happens during harvest, but they'll have the opportunity to get involved.

"We invite anyone who has ever romanticized about getting involved with harvest, hands-on to come out to the 2011 Sonoma Valley Crush event. It's going to be unforgettable," said Josie Gay, executive director of the Heart of the Valley Association.

For five days, wineries will be offering a variety of harvest events including grape sampling in the vineyards, crush pad tours, harvest winemaker lunches and dinners, and even a harvest photography session with a winemaker. Participating wineries are Audelssa Estate Winery, Deerfield Ranch Winery, Enkidu Wines, Eric Ross Winery, Family Wineries, Kaz Winery, Kenwood Vineyards, Ledson Winery and Vineyards, Little Vineyards, Loxton Cellars, Mayo Family Winery, Muscardini Cellars/Ty Caton Vineyards, Paradise Ridge Winery, VJB Vineyards and Cellars and Valley of the Moon Winery.

Winery Harvest Events are priced separately and require booking directly with the wineries.

The five-day festival will culminate with the weekend Harvest Tasting on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 17 and 18, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. The Weekend Harvest Pass is $35 a person and will give guests access to weekend harvest activities and wine tastings at the 16 participating wineries as well as a logo wine glass.
