Cook Vineyard Weekly Newsletter 10.10.11
Predicting harvest dates in a normal year is difficult. Add in a little rain and it almost becomes impossible.
Our harvest normally starts in mid September and continues till November. This year due to the cool summer we got a later start. The good news is we have harvested most of the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir Vineyards, with a few later ripening vineyards that are scheduled this week.
Our Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah vineyards are still ripening on the vine and are a couple weeks away. It’s too early to tell when these vineyards will be harvested.
It is recommended to pull leaves in vineyards that are susceptible to rot. This allows airflow in the fruit zone. Other than that we need some warm days to get us to our desired brix level.
If anyone wants to visit us in the vineyards to learn more about the world of viticulture, Please call us at 707.490.8921. Also check our face book account Cook Vineyard Management under discussions for more information.
