Convenience store caught in alcohol sting

Sep 18, 2011 - 11:10 AM

A convenience store on Broadway was cited Saturday evening during an alcohol sting conducted by the Sonoma Police Department.

According to a release from Sgt. Spencer Crum with the Sonoma Police Department, an employee of the Easy Stop Market in the 900 block of Broadway was cited for furnishing alcohol to a minor. The employee was criminally cited and the owner of the store will face an administrative sanction by the ABC.

Crum said underage decoys attempted to purchase alcohol at 11 off-sale ABC licensed establishments. Out of the 11, only one store sold to the underage decoys.

The decoys also went to the front of local establishments and asked adults to purchase alcohol for them. Four subjects accepted the decoys' solicitation and purchased alcohol for the minors. All four were criminally cited for furnishing alcohol to a minor.

This operation was conducted with funds from a grant from the Department of Alcohol Beverage Control.
