Clifton James Sheppard

Clifton passed away peacefully at home on June 7, 2011, at the age 95 with his family by his side.
Clifton is survived by his daughter, Sue Von Krusze; and sons
Mike and Tommie Sheppard; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. Clifton was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Sheppard.
Clifton was born and raised in Ash Flat, Ark. At the age of 25, Clifton enlisted in the Army during World War II, where he served as a tank driver in the European Theater.
Upon his return from the war, Clifton settled with his family in Sonoma. He worked for the United States Post Office in Sonoma and retired in 1979. Clifton enjoyed many years of camping in his RV with friends and family. He was a member of the SIRs (Sons of Retirement) organization and also the Moose Lodge in Petaluma. Clifton was also an avid bowler, with his last games coming only two weeks before he passed away.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 26, at 2 p.m. at Santa Rosa Bible Church, 4575 Badger Road, Santa Rosa.
Arrangements are under the care of Lafferty and Smith Colonial Chapel, 539-2921.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefer memorials be made to Memorial Hospice of Petaluma.
