Cleaning up the creek

Juan Contreras, 18, left, and Patrick Neeley, 17, watch George Gomez, 18, swing an ax trying to dig out a long-stuck fence on Nathanson Creek Saturday as part of Earth Day activities. The Sonoma Ecology Center, the Sonoma Stream Stewardships, Sonoma County Regional Parks, Transition Sonoma Valley and Nuestra Voz partnered to host cleanup events at five different sites around the Valley. An estimated 40 to 50 volunteers were cleaning along Nathanson Creek in back of Sonoma Valley High.
