Clarifying Meals on Wheels funding
Editor, Index-Tribune:
We’re here again to remind the folks in Sonoma Valley that the fundraising phone calls they are getting are not from us (Meals on Wheels of Sonoma). They are from the Council on Aging in Santa Rosa (a fine, government-funded organization).
Remember, your local Meals on Wheels program is all-volunteer, receives no federal funding and does not fund raise over the phone.
Speaking of donations, we want to thank Gina Clyde and Ann Marie Sebastiani for the fabulous Turkey Trot run/walk on Thanksgiving morning.
Despite the rain, the turnout was impressive, as was the amount of money raised. Thank you.
For the past couple of years, our Sonoma Pharmaca store has chosen a local nonprofit to be the recipient of their holiday gift bags.
This year Meals on Wheels is the beneficiary. Gift bags are put together (they contain toiletries, gloves, scarves, etc.) and are sold in the amount of $10, $15 and $25. We encourage you to stop by and purchase a gift bag for one of our clients. Their holiday season will be happier as a result.
Thank you and have a wonderful holiday season.
