Charles R. Missey
Charles R. Missey, 70, died of renal cancer at his home in Sonoma, on May 22, 2011.
The son of Charles R. Missey and Rosemary C. Missey, he was born Aug. 6, 1940, in Berea, Ohio. He attended St. Raphael Catholic School in Springfield, Ohio, and later St. Joseph Elementary and High School in Fremont, Ohio, from which he graduated in 1958.
He then went to Bowling State University where he earned a bachelor of science degree in 1962. He served in the Air Force from 1965 to 1969. Part of that service was as a captain in Vietnam.
Upon returning to the states, he worked at Cypress Metalurgy as a chemical analyst in Tucson, Ariz. After moving to California, he worked at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard and later as a postal worker at St. Helena, from which he retired.
He is survived by his brothers, Thomas, of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; and William and Gerald, of Sonoma. His father and mother and brother, James, are deceased. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss him very much.
A Mass of Christian burial was said at St. Leo's Church in Sonoma, on Thursday, May 26, 2011.
Inurnment will be at St. Francis Solano Cemetery.
