Ceramics displayed at SCC

May 30, 2011 - 10:33 AM

"Flower Basket" by Sunshine Cobb

In its Gallery 212, the Sonoma Community Center will host an exhibition of recent ceramic works by Artist in Residence Sunshine Cobb, which will be on view from June 3 through 26. The public is invited to the opening reception on Friday, June 3, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Cobb's ceramic work pushes the boundaries of form and scale that often define traditional functional ceramics. The exhibit will feature a collection of works, including elegantly textured vases and vessels, created during her six-month residency.

Originally from California, she holds a master of fine arts from Utah State University.

SCC's artist-in-residence program provides opportunities for self-directed, emerging or established artists to develop a cohesive body of work that reflects their time at SCC. Open to all artists living within the United States, the program culminates in a gallery exhibition at the completion of each residency.

For more information, contact Sonoma Community Center at 938-4626, ext. 1, or www.sonomacommunitycenter.org.
