Brocco is 'Smarter Than a 5th Grader'

Mike Brocco of Brocco's Old Barn, an alum of El Verano Elementary School and Sonoma Valley High School, stood victorious after narrowly beating out Infineon Raceway President Steve Page during Saturday night's "Are You Smarter Than a Sonoma Valley 5th Grader," which benefitted the Sonoma Valley Education Foundation. Still, none of the 15 contestants of the Saturday night fundraising competition could honestly say they were smarter than a fifth-grader, since all relied heavily on the 18 elementary student "experts" to find the correct answer. Proceeds from the event, which drew a crowd of 175, are still being calculated. Funds raised will go toward bringing the Exploratorium Science Program, an innovative project that combines both science and language arts curriculum, to all of the district's elementary schools.
