A megalomaniacal Germanic mistress, an obsequiously sinister, whip-waving minion and a wild menagerie of supple, sinuous, anthropomorphic cats and dogs bounded, leaped, flew, swung, twirled, tangled, spun and hung over an exuberant crowd of animal lovers at the third annual Black Cat Cabaret.

Sponsored by Pets Lifeline, directed by Bianca Sapetto, backed by a stellar band featuring Robin Finck (formerly of Guns N' Roses and  Nine Inch Nails) and Grammy-winning diva Thelma Huston, Black Cat held the audience enthralled.

The performers, veterans of Cirque de Soleil, Teatro Zinzanni and other high-flying venues, volunteered their time and talents for the animals, and helped support the Saturday afternoon production of Le PeTiT CiRqUe, a children's troupe of amazing acrobats.

Final figures had not been compiled at press time, but the event, and its entertaining auction, raised tens of thousands of dollars to support the hundreds of homeless animals supported by Pets Lifeline each year.
