Big box in verse

Editor, Index-Tribune:

 

In hopes that our City Council can find a fair and legal way to prevent a proliferation of large chain stores in beautiful but fragile Sonoma, I offer a brief verse:

 

The Big Box stores are coming to town.

Replaced by Staples and Applebee's,

IHOP and K-Mart and KFC,

The family stores are closing down.

 

Here they come, and away we go.

Look out, dear Readers'; you too, Church Mouse,

Here come Petco, Outback Steakhouse,

Best Buy, Ikea, and Office Depot.

 

Goodbye, neighbor, we wish you well.

Hello, stranger, haven't we met?

Was it Daly City or Olivette?

Newark or Scranton or Pittsburgh or Hell?
