Betty Ann Gleason
Betty Ann Gleason, 83, was born Aug. 9, 1927, in Jamesville, N.Y., and died May 20, 2011, at her home in Sonoma. Betty was the daughter of Robert and Ann Middleton of Jamesville N.Y., and sister of Robert Middleton Jr. of Jamesville, N.Y. (deceased).
Betty raised her children in Jamesville, N.Y. She joined the Army in 1943 where she drove jeeps for the motor pool. She was honorably discharged in 1944. Later in life, Betty attended nursing school in Syracuse, N.Y. achieving an LVN license. She practiced nursing for more than 30 years.
Betty and her husband, Leo Gleason (deceased 2001), moved to Marin County in 1979 with her youngest son and daughters. Betty worked in San Francisco at the Veterans Administration Hospital for many years and was an avid reader and lover of history.
Betty is survived by her children, Jay Krenick, of Brewerton, N.Y.; Thomas Krenick, of Benicia; Ellen Cutrie, of New York; Elizabeth McCarthy, of Marcellus, N.Y.; John Gleason, of Novato; Leanne O'Sullivan, of Sonoma; and Marilyn Camilleri, of Sonoma. She is also survived by her brother, William Middleton, of Jamesville, N.Y.; 15 beloved grandchildren and 12 beloved great-grandchildren.
She took great joy in her family and is loved and missed by all her family and friends.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at 1 p.m., at Duggan's Mission Chapel, 525 W. Napa St., Sonoma, with interment at St. Francis Solano Catholic Cemetery also in Sonoma.
In appreciation for the wonderful care Betty received and in lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorial donations in her honor be made to Heartland Hospice, 2455 Bennett Valley Road, Suite, No. B214, Santa Rosa, CA 95404-5650.
