Basketball awards given to Dragon boys, Severson named MVP

At the awards banquet for Sonoma Valley High School’s boys’ basketball program, a group of Dragon cagers were honored for their play during the 2010-11 winter season.

Presenting Sonoma’s boys’ hoops awards were varsity head coach Casey Rogina and assistant coaches Thomas Dankworth, Jack Powers and John McNeilly, and junior varsity coach Mark Weber.

For the varsity Dragon boys, senior Dylan Severson, who was a four-year varsity player and multiple all-league standout, was named the team’s most valuable player.

Also receiving Sonoma varsity honors were junior JoJo Sanchez, who garnered the most improved player award, and senior Steven McGunagle, who received the coach’s award.

For the Dragon boy hoops jayvees, sophomore Vincent Bruton was named the MVP, while sophomore Jaxon Strong was given the most improved player award, and freshman Vincent Albano got the coach’s award.
