Assemblymember Jared Huffman has named Sonoma's Mary Evelyn Arnold as his 2011 Woman of the Year for the 6th Assembly District.

A well-known volunteer throughout Sonoma, and the current alcaldessa, Arnold is treasurer of the Vintage House board, organizer of the Wednesday cooking "crew" at Meals on Wheels, birthday cake baker for WillMar Center and "unofficial cat cuddler" at Pets Lifeline. In a press release Thursday, Huffman described Arnold's generosity and vast contributions as "immeasurable."

Arnold will head to the State Capitol on Monday, March 21 for the annual "Woman of the Year" ceremony where she will be recognized as an exemplary California woman along with other extraordinary women.

All 80 Assemblymembers and their honorees participate in this event.

The day of celebration will include a Legislative Women's Caucus Brunch Reception hosted by Attorney General Kamala Harris, Secretary of State Debra Bowen and Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom. Neither state nor legislative funds are used to pay for the activities.

I've known M.E. Arnold since the mid 80's. I've never known a finer human being in my life even when we were dealing with all the craziness of the early "Personal Computers". She was always there and also a finer person to work with and depend on on has never been seen by me.

Bless your heart ME...
