Another newfound family
Editor, Index-Tribune:
I just read Pam Gibson’s article in the Nov. 25 issue of the Index-Tribune about (City Manager) Linda Kelly (who discovered a brother she didn’t know she had). I thought she might be interested to know the same thing happened to me earlier this year, only I was the one who was found, by my half-sister and brother, whom I never new existed.
I always knew I had a real father, but I never knew he had remarried and had another family. I am 81 years old and always thought I was an only child. Last May, I received an email from a man who said he was married to my sister and they had recently found records that their father had a daughter by a previous marriage. They did a lot of research and actually found me through Facebook.
I was stunned, but I responded to a phone number in the email. They made arrangements to come to Sonoma to meet me – my brother from Kirkland, Wash., and my sister from La Mirada.
We met last May and they spent a couple of days here. They then invited me down to La Mirada for Thanksgiving and I just got back from spending five days with them.
I had a wonderful time and I met a lot of my brother-in-law’s family. I am so happy to have found a new family.
