A Gay Weekend In Wine Country!

Sep 16, 2011 - 12:38 PM

Some weekends just whiz on by without much fanfare while some are chock filled with plenty of activities. Such was the case last weekend where there was one gay event going on after another.

What better way to start the weekend than at an all gay men’s wine tasting group. Magnum Men’s Wine Tasting started a number of years ago in Healdsburg. Usually their events occur in that area and I have not had the opportunity to attend many of their functions. On this particular Friday, the group was heading to the Family Wineries in Kenwood to hold their monthly gathering. There is a theme where everyone brings a bottle of wine, (in this case, the theme was chardonnay,) and something to eat.

It’s a blind tasting wherein everyone takes notes and votes for their favorite wine all the while having the chance to mingle with other men. It was great to meet a lot of new faces and have the group come down our way.

Moving on to Saturday … well that is when all my friends who have pools tend to have pool parties. The hardest decision to make is whose pool to enjoy! Everyone’s pool is open and all are welcome. It gives us all a chance to relax and play in the beautiful Sonoma sun. Time just flies by and the next thing you know its time to start thinking about dinner. Much fun in the sun.

And to end the weekend, Sonoma GayDar, our local LGBT group, gathered at Estate to celebrate its second anniversary. Lots of new faces and friends gathered to mix and mingle in the wonderful outdoor patio. Wine and cocktails were flowing as we all had the opportunity to spend time with each other. Oh, wait … we’ve been doing that all weekend long!
