Exhibition explores beauty of ice

Located at CornerStone Sonoma, a New Leaf Gallery/Sculpturesite will introduce the Valley to Canadian artist Gordon Halloran, well known to world audiences as the creator of “Paintings Below Zero,” ambitious public art installations that spanned Canada, the U.S. and Europe, inspired by glacial walls. His exhibition of work will open at the gallery on Sunday, May 5, with a sculpture walk from noon to 2 p.m. that begins at the CornerStone reflection pool. It will be followed by a reception that will take place in the gallery from 2 to 4 p.m.

Vintage House Singers to perform

Vintage House Singers’ spring concert is set for Thursday, May 9, from 7 to 9 p.m.; and Friday, May 10, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Vintage House senior center. Under the direction of music director JoAnne Connor, the singers will embrace the season with a selection of uplifting traveling tunes.

Actors sought for Steve Martin show

Actors sought for Steve Martin show

M & G Productions, a member of the Sonoma Theatre Alliance, will hold auditions for actors interested in participating in the production of Steve Martin’s comedic play “Picasso at the Lapin Agile.” The play will run from Aug. 8 to 25 in the newly renovated Andrews Hall at the Sonoma Community Center. Play rehearsals will begin on Tuesday, June 25.

Disney, country stars featured at fair

An up-and-coming lineup of musicians will headline the 2013 Sonoma County Fair concert series, which opens Thursday, July 25 and runs through Sunday, Aug. 11 (closed Mondays). Featured entertainers include Grammy-nominated country star Hunter Hayes; country music duo Florida Georgia Line and one of Billboard's “Hottest Music Stars under 21,” Bridgit Mendler.
