This week, the Sonoma Community Center announced the theme of its annual Fourth of July parade and celebration in the Sonoma Plaza as “Performance in Sonoma Valley.”

Museum fundraiser will get Spanish make-over

The Sonoma Valley Museum of Art’s annual “Wet Paint” fundraiser is getting a Spanish makeover this year. Granada Nights will take place Saturday, June 8, at Ramekins Culinary School, Event Center and Inn, and will offer guests the sights, sounds and tastes of Spain.

Melodrama at Dunbar

This year, the school offers “A Bad Day at Gopher’s Breath,” originally written by Squire Fridell and again directed by Sonoma Treasure Artist Kate Kennedy. The show can be seen Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 24, 25 and 26, at 6 p.m. at the Haver Stage at the school.

Transcendence launches Artist Series

Transcendence Theatre Company, which produces the award-winning “Broadway Under the Stars” concerts in Sonoma’s Jack London State Historic Park, will now launch the Transcendence Artist Series, which will be highlighted by the songs of Tony-winner Sutton Foster.

‘Shadow Dancer’ screened at Sebastiani Theatre

The Sonoma International Film Festival offers a sneak peek of “Shadow Dancer” starring Clive Owen on Thursday, May 30. The film will be screened at the Sebastiani Theatre, where doors will open at 6 p.m. with a 6:45 p.m. showtime.

Jack London Park hosts kids camp this June

This summer children in grades 6 through 8 can experience Jack’s Camp, a day camp for creative children at Jack London State Historic Park. The camp runs from June 10 to 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.

Montessori marks 40th year

The Montessori School of Sonoma marks its 40th anniversary with a party on Saturday, June 1, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the school.

History projects displayed at Barracks

History projects by Sonoma’s fourth-grade students are now on display at the theater room of the Sonoma Barracks. The public is invited to see the work done at nine different Valley elementary schools, which will be on display through May 28.

‘Noche’ heads to Africa

La Luz Center is going on safari this year with “Noché Out of Africa,” set for Saturday, Aug. 3, at Jack London State Historic Park. The center’s annual “Noche” fundraisers have been selling out early, so it’s best to buy early for this party. Tickets are on sale now by calling 938-5010.
