4Cs offer free, low-cost preschool programs

The Community Child Care Council of Sonoma County (4Cs) has immediate openings for free to low-cost preschool programs in Sonoma, Petaluma, and Healdsburg.

Income-eligible families can live anywhere in Sonoma County and utilize childcare subsidies and a sliding-scale fee system. The centers operate from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, year-round.

The Sonoma Child Development Center is located on the Sassarini Elementary School campus, 620 Fifth St. W. in Sonoma. The Petaluma Child Development Center is located on the McDowell Elementary Campus, 401 S. McDowell Boulevard in Petaluma. Old Elm Child Development Center is located at 305 W. Payran Ave in Petaluma. The Healdsburg Child Development Center in located on the Healdsburg Elementary campus at 555 North St. in Healdsburg.

The 4Cs is committed to the success of the children in the community, to not only meet their immediate needs, but to build the foundation for future leadership and accomplishment.

Experiences in the first five years of a child’s life are crucial to the brain’s development of attitudes towards self, others and learning.

Studies show that children that attend preschool are more likely to graduate high school, earn more money as an adult, and stay away from crime and teen pregnancy.

For eligibility information, call the 4Cs office at 544-3077 or apply online at sonoma4cs.org.
